Located on the first floor of the Bastions building, opposite the Circulation desk, the Salle Moynier offers a dozen work places. There you will find on the open-access shelves the current year’s issues of some 1000 specialized reviews which the library subscribes to. Bound volumes of issues from earlier years are kept in storage and can be called up for consultation.
The room takes its name from Gustave Moynier (1826-1910). This Genevan jurist was behind the international conference of 1863 that gave us the Red Cross, and the diplomatic conference of 1864 that led to the adoption of the Geneva Conventions. Moynier served as president of the International Committee of the Red Cross from 1864 until his death in 1910. He was also a benefactor of the library.
