Diplôme de biologie à l’Université de Neuchâtel (1987-1992); Diplôme d’Étude Approfondie (DEA) à l’Université de Montpellier 2 (1992-1993); Thèse de doctorat à l’Université Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris (1993-1997); post-doctorat «chercheur avancé» du FNS au musée des dinosaures d’Espéraza, France (1999-2000); enseignant-chercheur à l’Université de Mahasarakham, Thaïlande (2001-2002); post-doctorat «Marie Curie» au Natural History Museum de Londres (2003-2005).

Conservateur du Département de géologie et paléontologie au Muséum d’histoire naturelle de Genève depuis 2006.
